Sanderson is in the northeast portion of the Chihuahuan Desert 120 miles west of Del Rio on Highway 90, about 60 miles from Marathon, home of the Gage Hotel, 70 miles south of there is the basin at Big Bend.  Oh, what a place!  Art is all over this part of Texas. 

Terrell County or Sanderson is designated as a Texas Colonias and benefited from the state taking the town off septic systems and building a sanitary treatment plant.  Then the state paid to tie in each structure for the disposal of sanitary sewer.  That was about ten years ago.  A taxing authority was set up but no debt was incurred.  Result being, new plumbing throughout town, no debt which equals low taxes and will be low for a long time.
